Book Bag

This is going to be a running list of books, essays, and other collections of words that I want to read. Perhaps I will check them off as I read them, perhaps I will just remove them. If you have suggestions for me, please send them my way. In an earlier life, I was in a book club and I miss that! Among other things that I am looking forward to when I go home at the end of my summer in Vietnam, I am looking forward to being reunited with my stash of unread books (update: we have been reunited and are overjoyed).

Read and strongly recommend:

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt  (this was a phenomenal read and I strongly, strongly recommend it)

The Sound of Things Falling by Juan Gabriel Vasquez (this was a relatively quick read with very engaging descriptions of life in Colombia)

The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey (magical, a little heartbreaking)

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Without Reservations by Alice Steinbach

The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende
